I was watching a Tik Tok last night that showed you how to deep clean your dishwasher. I thought I would give it a try. Disclaimer: I did have a plumber on speed dial just in case I couldn’t do it though. Thank you Megan and Stephen for being a phone call away and coming to my rescue in the past.

I started taking my dishwasher apart and suddenly felt empowered. I got to a part that was slightly different than what the you tube showed. Panic fell over me and I thought “Oh no, I’ve bitten off more than I can chew.” After talking myself off the ledge (as I often have to) I took a deep breath and watched a couple more you tubes and finally found the elusive clip holding the water line tube in place. VICTORY!!

I got the dishwasher totally disassembled and started to deep clean. I live in the country and the well water hard minerals had built up. There was also a plethora of tags, glass pieces and disgusting food particles in the drain basket. I was grossed out, but kept on cleaning and scrubbing.

Alas, the dishwasher was clean top to bottom. After a few struggles putting everything back (with no extra parts left over, YEAH) I stood back and felt that empowerment wash over me again.

Often we are faced with things that seem overwhelming. It might be a huge task, or a physical condition or a financial situation that you have no idea where to start to remedy. My advice can be broken into 4 points. 1) JUST START. Once the baskets were out and the parts were lying on my counter I felt it I was at the point of no return.

When an airplane starts drastically increasing speed there comes a time when all they can do it ascend. They have run out of runway, there is no turning back. That is called the point of no return. That’s where I was. Sure, I could have called my plumber friend, but I pressed on.

Point 2 is PRESS ON. Keep on going and if it means doing it afraid, so be it! My worst case scenario was that I might break something and I would have to get it fixed or buy a new dishwasher. Neither idea was appealing to me, but I kept encouraging myself. (I think I can, I think I can. Remember that little train?)

There is a story In 1 Samuel 30 where David was down. He had much more grave issues to contend with than a dishwasher. The enemy had burned down the city, taken the women and children, and the men were quite peeved at David. They wanted to stone him. Then David does something wise. He makes a decision to press on and starts to encourage HIMSELF in the Lord. (Verse 6) No one else was going to encourage him. No one was going to text him to send him an encouraging meme. No one was going to send flowers and say “you got this.” He had to encourage HIMSELF.

People are busy and there are times you can’t wait for the phone to ring or a text to come. You have got to encourage YOURSELF. I had to do that over that silly dishwasher, but there are many times I have to do that over more serious matters. Number 3 is ENCOURAGE YOURSELF! Be your OWN cheerleader!

My last advice is simply Give yourself KUDOS when you have a victory, big or small. Celebrate the wins!

Im rooting for you. so JUST START, PRESS ON, ENCOURAGE YOURSELF, and CELEBRATE YOUR VICTORIES. God bless you, I need to go start a load of dishes in my SPARKLY CLEAN dishwasher. You can do it!!!

Look how sparkly it is!!
